Morocco’s capital Rabat hosts the sixth edition of Africa and Middle East music fair, Visa For Music, between November 20 and 23. This year’s version is characterized by the participation of artists and groups from 31 countries.
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Visa For Music aims at a wide rage of practical objectives related to both optimizing the potential of the music and culture industry and equipping young artists and operators with practical tools to embark on a successful journey in this quickly evolving market.
The activities scheduled include conferences that discuss the common problems facing the sector in Morocco and propose applicable solutions, and speed-meetings to give artists a chance to meet for 5 minutes with different operators. Also, the event will host workshops and trainings focusing on equipping artists and professional with tools to enhance the quality of their offers. In addition, 80 exhibitors will showcase their work through the four-day event to get a chance for peer-assessments.
“This event suggests numerous activities, especially offering the youth the opportunity to get behind the scenes of a festival and work in a technically-immerse environment in order to help them apply what they learned in their trainings,” says the founder of this international event Brahim El Mazned.
He adds that the participating students mainly come from ISMAC (the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Cinema Professions). He highlights that the students are exposed to the same conditions required in the organization of large-scale events, such as Visa For Music.
In this regard, the trainees taking part in the event are set to take part in all the phases of the event, from the preparations onward.
Young Moroccan musicians also will have a chance to meet, interact with and learn from established artists from 31 countries across the globe. These include Moroccan Soukaina Fahsi, Paco Renteria from Mexico, Djam from Algeria and Natacha Atlas from France
