The German ‘Institut Goethe’ has announced lately that it stopped its scholarships given to young Moroccan students to study the German language in Germany
The decision to put an end to the scholarship program came after a 3 students quit the program and did not return to Morocco, according to Susanne Baumgar, the Director of Goethe Institute in Morocco.
The scholarship was organized in the framework the Pasch Initiatives, “Schools, partners of the Future”, in collaboration with 1800 schools worldwide that prioritize the German language in their curricula.
In Morocco 7 private and public schools were part of the program. Baugman, quoted in French language news source Telquel, explains that the scholarship were used “as a means of illegal immigration to Germany.”
Susanne Baumgar added that Goethe Institute in Morocco and Goethe Institute in German and the German Embassy are looking for ways to resume the program for the current school year.
