Festival gathers redheads from all over France

The commune of Châteaugiron in Brittany in Northwest France has hosted on Saturday 24th a festival for redheads that attempts to shed light on the red headed community in France.

Dubbed Red Love 2019, the festival attempts to sensitize people about the issues the redheads face in France and throughout the world. The coming together of around 3000 redheads from all over France also aims at uniting them and improving self-esteem, according to the French Website La Vie En Rousse.

Another aim of the festival is to celebrate individual differences and put an end to discrimination and prejudice against the redhead population that represents 3% of the French population and 2% globally.

“As it does not concern a big part of the population, a lot of people either don’t know or simply don’t care. But the redheads know, as they are isolated, that they are at least looked at differently,” says Pascal Sacleux, the festival organizer, in an interview with AJ+.

The 55 volunteers that organized the festival put together a one-day program that included music, photo shoot sessions, wedding dress parades, stands and expositions.

Red Love 2019 is the second edition of the festival and, like last year’s version, it was open to the general public and not exclusively to the redheads
