Morocco’s Higher Planning Commission (HCP) has released its information note on October Consumer Price Index, showing an increase of 0.3% compared with September, and an increase of 0.7% compared with the same month in 2018.

The increase regards the food products, which rose by 0.3 percent as well as the non-food products, which saw an increase of 0.4 percent compared with the September of the current year, according the Higher Planning Commission’s information note, reported in MAP.
The note details that vegetables account for the highest increase in the food products component, at 4.8 percent. Milk, cheese and eggs recorded an increase of 0.5 percent whereas the oils and fat sub-category saw a minor rise of 0.3 percent.
The increase in the price index, however, does not impact all the sub-categories as fish and see food, fruits and meats recorded a decrease of 1.2 percent, 0.7 percent, and 0.4 percent, respectively.
The increase in fuel topped the non-food products with an increase of 2.5 percent, adds the same source.
The city of Beni Mellal in the interior of Morocco registered the highest increase in the price in index in Morocco at a rate of 1.3 percent. The cities of Marrakech and Meknes had an increase of 0.8 percent, Fez 0.7 percent, Safi 0, 6 percent, Tetouan and Tangier 0.4 percent and Oujda and Laayoune 0.3 percent.
Other city like Al-Hoceima and Casablanca recorded a decrease of 0.2 and 0.1 percent, respectively.
